My clients tend to be individuals who are aged 18 years and over and who are experiencing psychological distress or poor mental health.
About me
I specialise in working with people who have experienced stress and the impact of adverse life events, this includes working with childhood trauma and domestic violence as well as working with conditions such as anxiety, stress and depression, and issues such as attachment, self-esteem & adult personality. As a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and a qualified Systemic Psychotherapist I also provide psychological assessments and reports and offer therapy for a wide range of issues related to mental health and wellbeing.
I work primarily with adults over 18 years of age, as well as working with couples and families where appropriate. I use a range of therapeutic approaches and techniques dependent upon the needs of individual clients. These include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) as well systemic approaches such as narrative, attachment narrative and solution-focused therapy.
I have 18 years’ experience of working in the NHS in both mental health and physical health settings. This involved working with people experiencing enduring mental health conditions including depression, anxiety disorders, attachment issues and psychosis as well as working with those affected by persistent physical symptoms and acquired brain injuries.
Since 2015 I have been providing psychological assessment and therapy in the private sector and i have worked as the Clinical Director of Eden Psychology since January 2017. Private clinical consultations are provided in a comfortable, confidential setting to people who self-refer and for those referred by their doctor, employer, solicitor, insurance company or the courts. I am registered with AXA & Aviva private medical insurance providers and work with many occupational health providers

Testimonials
Anon - August 2020
My therapy with Dr Simpson has enabled me to process personal loss, along with how to take care of my wellbeing both in the workplace and in my personal relationships, with the end goal being to give me the tools I need to live a happy, supported and fulfilled life.
The EMDR was especially effective in helping me work through past traumas that were affecting my life in the present.
I cannot recommend Dr Simpson enough, his extensive knowledge and expertise means he is able to get to the root of the issue, work through it and provide meaningful therapy that works.

My course of therapy with Doctor Quentin has been enormously beneficial to myself. The EMDR Therapy helped me to address, process and resolve difficult periods in my life.
I now feel happier than I have done in years. The therapy has also helped me enormously with being able to vocalise my feelings and communicate better with my family, which I am very grateful for.

I think it was easier to keep appointments as I didn’t have to leave home as leaving the house is too daunting on some days. As these feelings aren’t predictable I was more likely to commit to another appointment without the fear I would have to cancel later on.
I personally prefer the Zoom set up as I felt less exposed and vulnerable, particularly at the beginning of the course of treatment. It would have been very difficult to share a room with a stranger to talk about personal issues at that stage but remote sessions removed that
barrier.
